Wayzata at Buffalo
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6

Sophia Shaver is Wayzata's only player with double-digit goals (13), while Buffalo has a trio of players with 10 or more goals including Abby Halluska, who leads the way with 14 goals and 14 assists. Kirsten Olson has 11 goals (20 points) and Madi Jewell has 10 (16 points).

The No. 7-2A Trojans (10-4-2) have the benefit of consistent goal play from Sarah Stelter, who has been in net of every game. The junior has a 1.64 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.

The Trojans also playing in the Lake Conference, one of the toughest leagues in the state. Wayzata is well-tested and should have an advantage over Buffalo.

But the No. 17-2A Bison (11-5-0) have outscored opponents 71-40 and have experience playing against ranked teams, although success has been hard to find. Buffalo is 1-3 in games against teams currently sitting in the top 10 of both classes.

The Bison won 2-0 at No. 10-1A South St. Paul on Nov. 29. Buffalo was shut out at No. 8-2A Dodge County (3-0 on Dec. 13), lost to No. 6-2A Edina (4-0 on Dec. 16) and fell 8-4 at No. 5-2A Minnetonka on Dec. 20.
