Hill-Murray at Lakeville North
7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20

Two-time defending Class 2A state champion Hill-Murray has looked pretty comfortable in starting the season by knocking off two of the state's top-ranked teams.

The Pioneers (2-0) jumped out to a three-goal lead against No. 1-1A Blake and gave up a goal with 14 seconds left in a 3-1 win. They followed that victory with a 4-1 win over No. 5-2A Eden Prairie on Nov. 14 behind two goals from Abigail Boreen.

Lakeville North (0-1) started the season with a 5-1 loss to Blake and will try to rebound against No. 1-2A Hill-Murray.

The No. 7-2A Panthers beat the Pioneers 2-1 last season, helping Hill-Murray start 0-2.

Lakeville North enters this year on the heels of a 22-5-1 season, where it lost 2-1 in overtime to rival Lakeville South in the Section 1 title game. Just four players graduated from last year’s team, including all-state goalie Abby Cooper, who went 21-5-1 with a 1.01 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage. Cooper had 11 shutouts as well.

Senior forward Morgan Manes (11-19-30), sophomore defender Maggie Flaherty (14-12-28) and senior defender Katarina Seper (8-8-16), who is an Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute commit, are among the top scorers returning for the Panthers.
