Breck at Warroad
7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20

Breck junior forward Grace Zumwinkle, a Minnesota recruit, scored all four goals in a 4-0 season-opening win over Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Nov. 10.

The No. 2-1A Mustangs (2-0) also recorded a 3-2 overtime win against No. 16-2A Centennial on Nov. 14. Freshman Sydney Breza sealed the victory when she scored her second goal of the game 7:44 into overtime. Zumwinkle and Kendall Williamson earned assists on the goal.

Breck needed a power-play goal from Carly Beniek with 1:38 left to play to tie the game 2-2. Breza and Williamson assisted on the goal that wiped out a 2-1 deficit. It was the only power-play goal scored by the Mustangs, who finished 1-for-6 playing with a man advantage.

The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal from Anneke Linser at 4:08 of the first period, but Breza tied it at 3:04 of the second period.

Gabbie Hughes scored 28 seconds into the third period to give Centennial a 2-1 lead.

Breck outshot the Cougars 44-22.

Warroad (1-1) enters the contest playing well. The Warriors recorded a 4-3 season-opening win at No. 16-1A Mahtomedi and a 4-2 loss at No. 2-2A Minnetonka last week. The Skippers routed the Warriors 7-0 in last year’s meeting but needed two third-period goals to get past No. 5-1A Warroad on Nov. 14.

Annelise Rice had a power-play goal and Emma Bigham scored for Minnetonka, which finished with a 34-17 advantage in shots.

Mariah Gardner twice led the Warriors back from one-goal deficits. Gardner tied the game in the first period after Presley Norby put the Skippers ahead 1-0. Gardner struck again in the second, scoring on the power play to make it 2-2 following Katie McMillian’s goal for Minnetonka.
