Lakeville South at Eagan
Noon, Saturday, Dec. 5

A big 2-1 win at No. 14-2A Lakeville North on Nov. 21 helped Eagan crack the Class 2A rankings, with the Wildcats landing at No. 20 in the most recent poll.

Brooke Madsen scored the game-winner midway through the third period and assisted on Taylor Anderson’s first-period goal, helping keep Eagan undefeated.

Madsen (5-7-12) and Anderson (7-4-11) have given the Wildcats (4-0-1, 2-0) hopes of making their first a state tournament since the 2012-13 season. They came close last year, losing 6-4 to Eastview in the Class 2A, Section 3 championship.

Goalie Ashley Larson (4-0-0, 1.94, .908) has been play for Eagan, which finished behind South Suburban Conference champion Lakeville South and Lakeville North in the league standings last season. The Wildcats, however, can take a huge step toward a conference title with a win over the No. 9-2A Cougars.
