Breck at Blake

Breck shook off a 4-0 loss to No. 1-1A Blake on Dec. 12 to rattle off four consecutive shutout victories over ranked opponents behind goalies Jenna Brenneman (8-1, 0.94, .959) and Sydney Scobee (5-2, 2.10, .924).

Prior to the four-game win streak, the No. 2-1A Mustangs (13-3, 0-1) had just three shutouts in 12 games, but Brenneman and Scobee have been flawless in wins over No. 9-1A Red Wing, No. 19-2A Grand Rapids/Greenway, No. 11-2A Lakeville South and No. 4-2A Maple Grove.

Scobee made 40 saves in a 3-0 win over the Crimson to outduel Breanna Blesi, who made 31 saves. Sydney Breza (13-8-21) had three goals in the win and has emerged as a scoring threat alongside Grace Zumwinkle (21-9-30).

Blake is coming off their second consecutive Kaposia Classic Invitational championship. The Bears (14-1-2, 2-0) beat No. 1-2A Hill-Murray in a shootout in the semifinals before knocking off No. 9-2A Elk River 4-0 in the title game with three goals from the state’s second-leading scorer Carly Bullock, who now has 30 on the season.

Goalie Anna Kruesel recorded 22 saves in a 5-2 win over No. 14-2A Mounds View in the tournament’s opening game on Dec. 31 and had her first shutout of the season with a 17-save performance against the Elks.

Blake goalie Olivia Bizal (9-0-1, 0.39, .978) stopped 41 shots against the Pioneers and has seven shutouts on the season.

The Bears won the first meeting with the Mustangs 4-0 on Dec. 12 with goals from Bullock, Phoebe Warner, C.C. Wallin and Lily Delianedis.
