Edina at Minnetonka

Edina outshot Lakeville South 48-24 in the Walser Invitational quarterfinals on Dec. 28 but lost 4-2.

The No. 2-2A Hornets (12-3, 1-1) responded by closing out the tournament with two blowout victories.

Emily Oden (12-5-17) had two goals while Edina allowed just six shots in a 6-1 win over No. 19-2A Grand Rapids/Greenway on Dec. 29. The next day, Oden tallied two goals and three assists and Anna Klein (11-5-16) scored four times in an 8-1 win over Hopkins/St. Louis Park. 

Minnetonka (14-2-1, 2-1) won both meetings with the Hornets last season but enters this matchup having lost twice in its past five games, including a 3-2 defeat to No. 6-2A Chaska/Chanhassen at the Eden Prairie Mid-Winter Meltdown. The Storm Hawks outshot the Skippers 32-11.

Chaska/Chanhassen did not allow Presley Norby (19-11-30) to score, and neither did Hopkins/St. Louis Park when it defeated No. 3-2A Minnetonka 4-3 on Dec. 19 in a game that the Skippers were outshot 49-21.

Senior defender Katie McMillan (10-15-25) had two goals in Minnetonka's 5-3 win over No. 5-2A Eden Prairie at the Mid-Winter Meltdown on Dec. 29, and junior forward Emma Bigham (14-6-20) has scored at least one goal in the Skippers' past seven games.
