Edina at Eden Prairie
5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9

Lake Conference rivals Edina and Eden Prairie meet for the first time since last season’s Class 2A, Section 2 championship, in which the Hornets upended the Eagles on Taylor Williamson’s overtime game-winning goal.

Eden Prairie had beaten Edina in the previous two section championships, so last year's victory meant that much more to the Hornets. After section realignment moved Edina to Section 6 this season, the regular-season meetings will keep the rivalry revving.

The Hornets and Eagles split last year’s league contests, with Edina handing Eden Prairie its first loss with just three games left in the regular season.

The Hornets will be without Grace Bowlby and Emily Oden, who are playing with the U.S. Women’s U-18 team at the World Championships in Canada, but the Hornets (12-3, 1-1) have the type of depth other teams relish.

Lolita Fidler (12-17-29) leads Edina in scoring while Sophie Slattery (9-16-25) has five goals and five assists in the last four games. Anna Klein had four goals and an assist in the Hornets' 8-1 win over Hopkins/St. Louis Park.
