Warroad at Thief River Falls
5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12

Thief River Falls avenged a loss earlier this season to Roseau with a victory over the Rams the first week of January, and the Prowlers will try to do the same against Warroad in their second meeting this season.

Tessa Jorde (8-9-17) and Mariah Nelson stopped 31 shots for No. 5-1A Thief River Falls (13-5, 6-2) in a 2-1 overtime victory against Roseau on Jan. 5.

Thief River Falls then recorded a 3-0 victory over No. 10-1A East Grand Forks on Jan. 10 behind goals from Jorde, Madison Poole (9-8-17) and Briana Jorde (10-14-24).

The Prowlers beat Warroad 3-1 in last year’s Class 1A, Section 8 championship, and the teams could see each other again this postseason if both keep playing well.

The No. 4-1A Warriors (15-2-1, 7-0) haven’t lost a game since a 4-1 defeat to No. 2-2A Edina on Nov. 21. Warroad has gone 12-0-1 since, including a 3-2 win over Thief River Falls, and enter the matchup with the Prowlers having defeated No. 10-1A East Grand Forks 3-2.

Mariah Gardner (24-31-55) has 11 points in the past four games, including five assists in the Warriors' 7-0 win over Apple Valley on Dec. 28. Madison Oelkers (19-20-39) has 10 points in the same span.
