Eagan at Lakeville South
7:15 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16

Eagan and Lakeville South meet twice in three days, a stretch that starts on Saturday, and the back-to-back matchups could determine which team owns first place in the South Suburban Conference early next week.

The No. 11-2A Cougars (12-4-1, 10-0-1) lead the No. 14-2A Wildcats (12-3-3, 9-1-1) in the league standings entering this week.

Lakeville South extended its unbeaten streak to six games in late December with a 4-2 win over No. 2-2A Edina in the Walser Invitational quarterfinals, but the run ended with the Cougars falling to No. 2-1A Breck 5-0 in the tournament semifinals.

Goalie Chloe Crosby was outstanding in the two games, stopping 45 shots against the Hornets and 41 against the Mustangs.

Lakeville South, however, bounced back from defeat with a three-game winning streak powered by four goals from Janna Haeg (12-13-25) and Amanda Boisjolie (1-11-12), who had two assists in each of the past two games.

Eagan put together a good run at the Eden Prairie Mid-Winter Meltdown over the holiday break. After a 4-3 victory over No. 8-2A Wayzata in the quarterfinals, the Wildcats tied No. 6-2A Chaska/Chanhassen 2-2 in the semifinals but did not advance to the finals following a loss in a shootout. Eagan then lost 3-0 to No. 5-2A Eden Prairie to close out the tournament.

Brooke Madsen (17-18-35) has five goals and two assists and Taylor Anderson (17-16-33) with four goals and four assists to power Eagan's three-game winning streak.
