South St. Paul vs. St. Paul United
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6

A three-win start to the season has quickly reversed for South St. Paul, as the No. 15-1A Packers have dropped three straight games by a total of three goals.

Eighth-grade forward Ella Reynolds leads the Packers (3-3) in scoring with five goals and 11 points, pacing an offensive attack that features seven players with five or more points.

St. Paul United (7-1-1) has been dominant since a Nov. 18 loss to No. 8-1A Proctor/Hermantown, outscoring opponents 19-9 and winning four straight games.

Leading the No. 3-1A United is senior forward and Cornell commit Joie Phelps, who ranks among the state's top scorers with 12 goals, 14 assists and 26 points.

The Packers or the United have represented Section 4 at the Class 1A state tournament for the past six seasons. For South St. Paul to be a contender again this year, the Packers will need to regain their early season form and score victory in Tuesday's rivalry matchup.
