Centennial and Maple Grove are also fighting for supremacy in the Northwest Suburban Conference, albeit in different divisions.
North Division contender Centennial is 4-0 behind an offense that has tallied 34 goals. The No. 6-2A Cougars are led by senior Gabbie Hughes, a Minnesota-Duluth commit with 12 goals on the season.
Junior Anneke Linser, another Minnesota-Duluth commit, has also contributed, posting seven goals and 11 assists. She had a goal and two assists in Centennial's 5-4 victory over Eagan on Nov. 25.
Maple Grove is the leader in the West Division with a 1-0 league mark. The Crimson are 3-1 overall, a good start for a team searching to replace the formative goaltending combination of the graduated Breanna Blesi and Coco Francis -- a duo that allowed the program to have so much success the past two seasons (44-11-3 overall record, Class 2A runner-up finish in 2016).
Junior goaltender Lucy Morgan has filled the void, boasting a .939 save percentage. She recorded her second shutout of the season, making 27 saves in the No. 8-2A Crimson's 1-0 win over Breck on Nov. 18.
