Saturday's matchup between Lakeville South and Farmington not only matters in the South Suburban Conference title race, but also in seeding for the Class 2A, Section 1 playoffs.
Lakeville South (3-4, 2-2) comes in battle-tested, having fallen to Eden Prairie, Eagan and No. 3-2A Hill-Murray. However, the Cougars responded with a 3-2 overtime win against Cretin-Derham Hall on Saturday.
Freshman Liberty Fettig, tied for a team-high three goals, has been a factor for the Cougars this season. Senior Josie Saufferer also leads the way with three tallies, including the game-winner against the Raiders.
Farmington enters the week on a five-game winning streak. The Tigers' only loss was a 3-2 defeat to Lakeville North in the season opener on Nov. 16. Senior Eleanor Moser has nine goals this season for Farmington (5-1, 2-1).
