Thief River Falls vs. East Grand Forks

7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12

While perennial Class 1A powerhouse Breck has struggled early, outstate teams have risen to the top of the rankings. Two of those teams are Thief River Falls and East Grand Forks.

The No. 2-1A Green Wave's lone loss this season came in a 3-2 decision to No. 1-7A Alexandria last Thursday.

East Grand Forks (7-1-1, 3-1-1) has gotten plenty of help from senior forward Cynthia Loven, who has set the pace for her team this season — including during Saturday's 7-4 win over Fergus Falls. The senior had a pair of goals and two assists in the win.

The No. 6-1A Prowlers, meanwhile, are off to an undefeated start this season, thanks in part to strong play from freshman forward Shelby Breiland.

She has 13 goals and eight assists this season for Thief River Falls (8-0-1, 4-0). Two of those goals came in Saturday's 7-1 win over Detroit Lakes.
