Senior forward becomes Elks' all-time points leader

In a high school career that has been full of records and milestones, Elk River senior forward Jonna Curtis has added another one to the list. Curtis, who owns nearly all of Elk River’s scoring records, has become the all-time points leader by scoring her 249th career point on a goal last month in the Centennial Holiday Hockey tournament.

Curtis passes 2004 graduate Jessica Pullar, who was a part of the Elk River State Championship team before continuing her hockey career at Bemidji State.

“It is really an incredible feat considering the amount of tradition and players we have had continue their career at the next level from this program. Players like Jess Pullar (Bemidji State), Monique Weber (North Dakota) and Anya Miller (University of Minnesota) to name a few and now Jonna has passed them all,” said assistant coach Dale Sager about the accomplishment.

Curtis’ success hasn’t stopped there as she has already added to her total up to 262 points with 30 goals and 16 assists this season, with still five games before playoffs. What maybe more remarkable is that Curtis has scored an average of 52 points since her eighth-grade season in a very tough and demanding Northwest Suburban Conference Schedule.

“It is an honor to be named with such great players and to have the record is a nice accomplishment, but we still have some team goals this year that we would like to get and those are more important right now,” said Curtis about her recent record-setting night.
After Curtis finishes her career at Elk River, she will be attending the University of New Hampshire.
