Ravndalen is a hockey name. It’s just not as well known in the Twin Cities area as it is near the Canadian border.
Kalley Ravndalen is a senior defenseman on the Lakeville South girls’ hockey team. Her father, Merlin, grew up in Warroad and played for the Warriors in high school.
“My dad is from Hockey Town USA, so that basically set me up to where I am now in my hockey career,” Kalley said.
She scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory over Warroad on Friday in Lakeville.

A: United States national team member Gigi Marvin of Warroad. She is a good family friend and is currently preparing to compete in the 2014 Olympics. A: ... excited and nervous. It was a different pace that I wasn’t really used to at the time.

A: Improving as a team.
Q: What are your goals for the girls’ hockey season?
A: To do whatever it takes to help my team perform the best we can.

A: A Subway sandwich, pomegranates and a protein ball.
Q: What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete?
A: Going to the state tournament my freshman year (2011), and being conference champions (Lake and South Suburban) two times.
Q: Who is your school’s biggest rival, and why?
A: Lakeville North. We are crosstown rivals and a lot of my good friends are on that team. It is always a big game when we play them.
Q: Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why?
A: I love the St. Louis Blues because one of my favorite players, TJ Oshie, plays for them.

A: Hockey is a team game. You play for the people sitting next to you and everyone else on your team bench, not just yourself.
