Crookston, MN- The Pirates get their first overall win of the 2013-2014 season as they beat non-conference Brainerd/Little Falls Flying Warriors with a 5-0 win.

Coming into Saturday’s game both the Pirates and the Flying Warriors were looking for their first overall win of the 2013-2014 season. The Pirates were the team to come out with the victory with a five to zero win against the Flying Warriors. In the first period the Pirates came out firing the puck by putting 15 total shots on Flying Warriors goaltender CJ Kendall (Jr, D/G). In the second period the Flying Warriors had a little penalty trouble with having 6:00 penalty minutes and with those six penalty minutes the Pirates only capitalized on one powerplay goal. The Pirates also came out firing again in the second period by posting 16 shots on the Flying Warriors goaltender. In the period the Flying Warriors again got into penalty trouble as they had 6:00 penalty minutes. Of those six penalty minutes the Pirates only scored one powerplay goal. Also in the third period the Flying Warriors came out firing on the Pirates and post eight shots on the Pirates goaltender Erica Allrich (Sr, G), she also had here second high school career shutout for the Pirates.

Leaders for the Pirates were Kendall Wahouske (Fresh, D), she was a +3 for the Pirates. Tori Demarais (Soph, D), was also a +3 for the Pirates while she also had one goal and one assist for the Pirates on the night. Also Leading the Pirates was Erica Allrich (Sr, G), who had fifteen saves for the Pirate along with her second high school career shutout.

Leaders for the Flying Warriors was CJ Kendall (Jr, D/G), she has 28 saves for the Flying Warriors but suffered the loss for the Flying Warriors.

Next for the Pirates will be the Thanksgiving holiday Tournament at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls when the Pirates have their actual home game against Section 8A Opponent the Park Rapids Panthers on Friday, November, 29, 2013.
