Pirates take their fifth Greater Minnesota Conference loss against the Roseau Rams

Roseau, MN- The Pirates loss their fifth Greater Minnesota Conference game against the Roseau Rams with a nine to one loss up in Roseau.

With a very talent Roseau team the Pirates in anyway could not get anything going against this very talented Rams team. In the first period this showed as the Rams came out firing against the Pirates by putting up eighteen shots and scoring four goals against the Pirates. The Pirates also did get on the board in the first period by a goal scored by Amber Trostad (Sr, F), at the 11:04 mark in the first period. In the second the Rams again outshot the Pirate by putting up sixteen shots and scoring three goals on Pirate goaltender Lexie Cormican (Soph, G). In the third period the Pirates made a goal change and put in senior goaltender Erica Allrich (Sr, G), which she stopped fifteen shots and only let in two Rams goals in the third period. This is one meeting of two for these teams this season as the Rams will travel to Crookston later in the season.

Leaders for the Pirates were Amber Trostad (Sr, F), she had one goals for the Pirates. Also leading the Pirates were the goaltenders Lexie Cormican (Soph, G) and Erica Allrich (Sr, G), Lexie had twenty-seven saves and stopping thiry-four shots and Erica saved thirteen saves and stopped fifteen shots.

Leaders for the Rams were Maddy Helgeson (Jr, F), she had three goals and one assists for the Rams. Also leading for the Rams were Morgan Helgeson (8th, F) and Josee Lundgren (Soph, F), both these girls had two assists for the Rams in the nine to one win against the Pirates.

Next game for the Pirates will be in Bemidji against the Bemidji Lumberjacks on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 7:30pm at the Bemidji Community Arena.
