Star Tribune Girls' Hockey All-Metro second, third teams

A look at the other honorees:

SECOND TEAM

Forwards

Jess Bonfe, Hill-Murray, senior: Led the defending Class 2A champion back to state with 25 goals. Signed with Merrimack.

Presley Norby, Minnetonka, junior: Consistent threat to score. Scored 24 goals in 23 games. Committed to Wisconsin.

Paige Voight, Cretin-Derham Hall, senior: Scored 34 goals and carried the Raiders to the section final. Signed with Merrimack.

 

Defense

Taylor Flaherty, senior, Lakeville North: A big, strong defender who made life miserable on opposing forwards. Signed with North Dakota.

Mekenzie Steffen, junior, Hill-Murray: Enjoyed a breakthrough year offensively with 13 goals. Committed to Wisconsin.

 

Goalie

Breanna Blesi, sophomore, Maple Grove: Posted remarkable regular-season numbers of 11-1-1 with a 1.05 goals-against average, a .956 save percentage and five shutouts.

How the team was selected

The Star Tribune’s All-Metro teams and Metro Player of the Year were chosen based on nominations from metro-area coaches, conversations with a panel of coaches and staff observations.
