Thief River Falls and Minnetonka each have state tournament experience from last season, and both expect to contend for another state bid this season.

The Prowlers beat Blake 3-1 to win last year’s Class 1A state title, while Minnetonka, just two seasons removed from its last state title, lost to Hill-Murray 2-1 in last year’s Class 2A championship. The Skippers missed the state tournament in 2014.

Minnetonka was the only team to beat Thief River Falls last year as the Prowlers posted a 26-1-3 record.

When the teams meet Friday, it will likely have the feel of a postseason game and is one reason this our Top Game of the Week.
