Dodge County and St. Paul United have developed into powerhouse programs over the past five years, a trend initially slowed by their difficulty scheduling high-quality opponents.
The Wildcats, who play an independent schedule, started their climb to relevancy in 2011 with a 6-3 home victory over Blake, which was ranked No. 1 in Class 1A at the time.
While it took other programs time to recognize Dodge County's legitimacy, the United, who experienced similar growing pains, have had the Wildcats on their schedule for the past six years.
Saturday's meeting between these longtime rivals is another step both can use as they attempt to secure a state tournament bid and is our choice for the Top Game of the Week.
