Eastview junior forward Natalie Snodgrass became the darling of the U.S. Women’s Under-18 National Team with her performance in the gold-medal game at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Ontario, Canada, last Friday.
Snodgrass scored twice, including the game-winner 1 minute, 47 seconds into overtime, to help the U.S. defeat Canada 3-2, and she finished the tournament tied for the team lead in goals (4) and second in points (5).
The Lightning got Snodgrass back in the lineup on Saturday, just in time for Eastview to make a final push to capture the South Suburban Conference title.
Lakeville South, which finished fourth in last year's Class 2A state tournament, will try to slow Snodgrass, a Connecticut commit who has 23 goals and 12 assists for Eastview, when the teams meet in a crucial conference matchup - and our Top Game of the Week - on Jan. 23.
Janna Haeg (16-17-31), meanwhile, looks to keep the league-leading Cougars, who are ranked No. 12 in the Class 2A coaches' poll, atop the conference standings against a dangerous Lightning team set on shaking up the final order.
