Class 2A

After taking over the top spot in the Class 2A coaches' poll last week, Edina maintained its position after outlasting Breck 5-4 to remain undefeated. The Hornets have three straight road games, which includes a matchup against No. 12-2A Minnetonka. If the Hornets can pass these tests, they should be able to hold the top spot -- at least until Lake Conference play begins.

Maple Grove checks in at No. 2. After losing to Edina to open the season, the Crimson won their next six games by outscoring the opposition 20-5.

The goaltending tandem of Coco Francis and Breanna Blesi have combined for four shutouts, while Francis boasts a .953 save percentage and a 0.81 goals-against average. With a strong defense and leading scorer Mannon McMahon (10 goals, 8 assists), the Crimson are well on their way to making their second consecutive state tournament appearance.

Eden Prairie is No. 3 after splitting two games last weekend. The defending Class 2A champion Eagles are in the midst of six-game road trip and face their fourth ranked team of the season this weekend in No. 6-2A Elk River.

Blaine is No. 4 and Hill-Murray is No. 5 in the rankings.

Class 1A

Blake continues its reign atop the Class 1A rankings, earning nine of 10 first-place votes. The defending state champion Bears (6-1-1) picked up where they left off, overcoming minor slip-ups with a four-game winning streak. They’ll have to beat No. 2 Breck this weekend, in the first of the team's two regular-season matchups, to maintain the top spot.

Breck received one first-place vote in this week’s poll. The Mustangs had a six-game winning streak snapped in a close loss to Edina last week, so they’ll be hungry heading into this weekend’s 1-vs-2 showdown.

Warroad earned the No. 3 position with a huge upset over No. 3-2A Eden Prairie last week. Behind the efforts of Minnesota State commit Madison Oelkers (6 goals, 12 assists), the Warriors should continue to challenge the state's top teams in the state.

Thief River Falls and St. Paul United sit in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with the latter dropping from third.
