Class 2A

Edina (13-0-1, 2-0) remains ranked No. 1 with all 10 votes from the state high school coach's poll, despite receiving a blemish to its record after a 3-3 tie with No. 2 in Class 1A Breck.

The Hornets breezed through the first two rounds of the Walser Tournament, beating Prior Lake 8-0 and second-ranked Maple Grove 2-1. Senior goalie Anna Goldstein is 9-0-1 with a 1.70 goals against average, a .902 save percentage and one shutout.

Edina faces ranked opponents, including Lake Conference rivals No. 16-2A Wayzata, No. 3-2A Eden Prairie and No. 9-2A Minnetonka, in five of the next seven games.

Maple Grove, Eden Prairie and Elk River follow behind Edina, each with 12 wins. After losing to Edina for the second time this season, No.2-2A Maple Grove beat Eastview and Farmington to improve to 12-2. While The Crimson (13-2, 7-0) have a much easier schedule, they may have already squandered their best chance to take the number one spot.

Hill-Murray (13-3, 5-0) sits at No. 5. The Pioneers are outscoring their opponents 77-17. Sophomore goalie Eva Bailey has a 10-3 record with six shutouts and a 1.05 goals against average.

University of North Dakota recruit Gabbie Hughes is leading the state in assists (32) and points (54) for No. 8 Centennial (10-6, 6-2).

Hopkins (13-4, 0-1) made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from No. No. 15 to No. 11. The Royals beat Hayward (Wisc.) 4-3 and No. 17-2A White Bear Lake 4-1 before losing to No. 6-2A Blaine in the Mid-Winter Border Battle championship game.

Grand Rapids/Greenway (12-3-1, 2-0) jumped from unranked to No. 19, leapfrogging Dodge County (9-4-1, 1-0) on the way.

Class 1A

Blake (12-2-1, 2-0) received all 10 first place votes in the high school coaches' poll and remained ranked No. 1 after shutting out three consecutive opponents.

The Bears beat Elk River, ranked No. 4 in Class 2A, 1-0 before blanking No. 3-1A St. Paul United and Minnehaha United by a combined score of 12-0. Goalies Olivia Bizal and Anna Kruesel have each recorded three shutouts and have save percentages in the .940's.

Warroad (7-7-1, 4-0-1) was bumped out of the top five to No. 6 after being swept in the Warroad Holiday Tournament by Shakopee, St. Paul United and Alexandria. The Warriors face only two more ranked opponents in their remaining nine games.

Moose Lake senior Jessica Bird leads the state with 34 goals, including 10 power play goals, one short handed goal and three game-winners. The No. 14-1A River Rebels are 12-3-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
