Player of the Week candidates for Jan. 2-7

This week's winner

Madeline Carlson, Orono. Carlson stopped all 52 shots in a 1-0 win over No. 7-1A Delano/Rockford.

The other candidates

Maddy Fiedler, Chaska/Chanhassen. Fiedler scored two third-period goals -- the second on the power play -- to give No. 12-2A Chaska/Chanhassen a two-point lead in a 3-1 victory over No. 8-1A New Prague.

Emma Ginter, Rosemount. Ginter scored both Rosemount goals in a 2-1 win over Robbinsdale/Armstrong.

Olivia Knox, Stillwater. The junior goaltender stopped 35 of 36 shots to finish with a .972 save percentage to help Stillwater upend No. 11-2A Forest Lake 2-1.

Emily Musielewicz, St. Cloud. The junior goaltender turned away 33 of 34 shots (.971 save percentage) in 2-1 win over Moorhead.

Riley Pester, Burnsville. The sophomore goaltender shut down Champlin Park, denying all 29 shots she faced, in 2-0 win.

Lauren Hickey, Holy Family/Waconia. The freshman forward tallied two goals to lead Holy Family/Waconia past Benilde-St. Margaret’s 4-3.

Liz Schepers, Mound Westonka. Schepers scored two of the White Hawks' three third-period goals as Mound Westonka edged Hutchinson 3-2.

Megan MohrSartell/Sauk Rapids. The senior defender scored twice, including a power-play goal early in the second period, to help Sartell/Sauk Rapids defeat Alexandria 3-2.

Kayla Kasel, Forest Lake. After falling behind 2-0 to No. 17-2A White Bear Lake, No. 17-2A Forest Lake rallied for 3-2 victory on Kasel's two goals. The first tied the game in the second period while the second came in the third and was the eventually the game-winner.
