Player of the Week candidates for Jan. 23-28

This week's winner

Kaitlyn Pellicci, Eastview. The senior goaltender recorded her third shutout of the season by stopping all 24 shots in a 1-0 win over Lakeville South.

The other candidates

Abby Barger, Eagan. Barger contributed three points in a 4-2 victory over Burnsville. The junior forward scored two goals – one shorthanded and one empty-netter – and added an assist, all within a six-minute span in the third period.

Emma Berthiaume, Hutchinson. In a 3-2 win over Delano/Rockford, the junior forward scored both of Hutchinson’s regulation goals and then set up the overtime game-winner.

Bailey Burton, Bloomington Jefferson. The sophomore forward contributed two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, and one assist in 4-3 win over Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Burton leads her team in goals (17), assists (11) and points (28).

Madison DeMarais, Sartell/Sauk Rapids. The sophomore goaltender stopped all 42 shots she faced in a 3-0 win over Thief River Falls, recording her third shutout of the season.

Madeline Niederer, Mound Westonka. The senior forward tallied two goals, including the eventual game-winner, and one assist in a 5-3 win over Willmar.

Sophie Rausch, Fergus Falls. Rausch recorded a hat trick in a 3-1 win over Alexandria. The sophomore forward scored her first two goals 1 minute, 8 seconds apart late in the first period, then added an insurance goal halfway through the final frame. Rausch leads her team in goals (28), assists (15) and points (43).

Emily Steen, Windom. The junior goaltender stopped 50 shots in a 2-1 win over Minnehaha United to finish with a save percentage of .980.

Izzy Sutherland, Duluth. Sutherland scored two goals and added an assist in 4-3 win over Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. The junior forward scored her second goal with just over a minute remaining in the third period to tie the game, then assisted on the overtime game-winner. Sutherland leads her team with 15 assists and 23 points.

Rachel VanKeulen, Marshall. The junior forward scored two goals within the first 1:18 of the game, then added an assist on the game-tying goal in a 4-3 win over Waseca. VanKeulen leads her team in both goals (16) and points (26).
