Player of the Week candidates for Feb. 6-11

This week's winner

Lauren Heinsch, Mahtomedi. In a 3-2 win over Minnehaha United, the freshman forward scored two goals – Mahtomedi’s first goal midway through the second period and the overtime game-winner 1 minutes, 45 seconds into the extra frame.

The other candidates

Taylor DeForrest, Apple Valley. The senior goalie stopped 29 shots for a .967 save percentage in a 2-1 win over Burnsville. DeForrest nearly completed a shutout, keeping the Blaze from scoring for more than 49 minutes.

Chloe Heiting, East Ridge. The junior goalie made 47 saves in a 2-1 double-overtime win over Eagan. Heiting recorded a .979 save percentage in playing more than 61 minutes.

Kayla Kasel, Forest Lake. Kasel scored three goals in a 5-4 win over Grand Rapids/Greenway. The junior forward scored her first goal midway through first period to put Forest Lake ahead 2-0. She scored again 5 minutes, 33 seconds into the second and netted the game-winner 1:37 into overtime.

Jordan Keeley, St. Peter. The junior goalie recorded a .980 save percentage, stopping 49 of 50 shots in a 1-1 overtime tie against Waseca.

Paetyn Levis, Rogers. Levis, the state's sixth-leading scorer (43 goals), recorded a hat trick in Rogers’ 3-2 win over Anoka. The junior forward scored shorthanded in the first period and added an even-strength goal in the second just two minutes after Anoka tied the game. She converted on the power play nearly five minutes into overtime to clinch the game.

Carissa Mudrak, Duluth Marshall. The freshman goalie made 42 saves for a .977 save percentage in a 2-1 win over Proctor/Hermantown.

Madisen Peterson, Princeton. In a 4-3 win over Chisago Lakes, Peterson tallied four points. The freshman forward, who is tied for seventh in the state in total goals (38), scored two goals and added an assist in regulation. She netted the game-tying goal in the third period before converting for the game-winner four minutes into overtime.

Cassidy Stumo, Andover. The sophomore goalie stopped 22 shots in a 2-1 double-overtime win over Cambridge-Isanti. Stumo played 61 minutes, 52 seconds and finished with a .957 save percentage.

Victoria Thorson, Duluth Marshall. The freshman forward scored two goals in a 3-2 win over International Falls. Her first tied the game with two minutes remaining in the third period while her second was the game-winner five minutes into overtime.
