No wonder she’s a Ms. Hockey finalist.

Eden Prairie senior Naomi Rogge put on a show. Her fifth hat trick of the season and two assists gave her a five-point night, the third time this season she’s reached at least five. She’s one of the most dominant goal scorers in the state, according to coach Jaime Grossman.

“I’m glad she’s on our team,” Grossman said.

It was enough to help the No. 4 seed Eagles beat No. 5 seed Forest Lake 6-4 in the Class 2A quarterfinals Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center. The Eagles (20-6-2) are the defending Class 2A champions.

Rogge helped get the scoring started midway through the first period, driving into the zone and firing a shot toward the net. All senior Emily McLaughlin had to do was tip it in. Rogge scored her first goal with a backhand move to the net, putting the Eagles up 2-0 by the first intermission.

Only 1:13 into the second, she had them up 3-0 with a shorthanded goal. She forced a turnover in the Forest Lake zone before turning and going for the net.

“Being able to go one-on-one with the goalie, I knew I’d be able to make the move,” Rogge said.

The Rangers (20-7-2) responded with goals quickly in the second, scoring 41 seconds and 37 seconds after the Eagles to cut the deficits to 3-1 and 5-2. Maddie Kolbow had two goals for the Rangers.

The Eagles will meet top-seeded Edina in the semifinal Friday for a rematch of last year’s semi. The Eagles won that game 1-0. This season, Edina won two one-goal games when the teams met in Lake Conference play.
