Ms. Hockey, Senior Goalie nominees named

Finalists will be announced in February issues of 'Let's Play Hockey'

Ten semifinalists were named for both the 2011 Ms. Hockey and Let's Play Hockey Senior Goalie of the Year awards today by hockey newspaper "Let's Play Hockey."

Both awards are presented annually by the newspaper.

The Ms. Hockey Award is presented to the top senior female high school hockey player in Minnesota. Finalists will be named in the Feb. 17 issue of "Let's Play Hockey."

The Let's Play Hockey Senior Goalie of the Year Award is presented to the top female senior goaltender in the state. Finalists will be named in the Feb. 10 issue of "Let's Play Hockey."

Both awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet at the St. Paul RiverCentre.

All 10 Ms. Hockey semifinalists are committed to a Division I school for next season, including seven in the WCHA and two in the Ivy League. The candidates boast a cumulative grade-point average of 3.671.

The 10 Goalie of the Year semifinalists combined for a 1.54 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage and a grade-point average of 3.59.

In addition to on-ice talent, criteria for these awards include academics, community/extracurricular activities, citizenship and coachability.
