The Mustangs Kate Schipper scored Breck’s first 4 goals this morning to lead the Mustangs to a 5-1 win over the South St. Paul Packers. The Mustangs advance to the Championship Game at Noon on Saturday versus the Warroad Warriors.
Coach Vannelli had a surprise for the Packers and the Breck Faithful when sophomore Milica McMillen hit the ice playing center on the second shift between Kate Schipper and Emily Kleidon. The line change put McMillen’s stickhandling and passing skills between two of Breck’s fastest skaters and that combination was lethal for the Packers.
Feb. 6th, the Mustangs beat Minnehaha 3-0 on Saturday to win their second consecutive Tri-Metro Conference Championship.
Ahsha Payne recorded her sixth shutout of the year to set a new Mustang season record. It was the team’s eleventh shutout of the season, also a Mustang record. The team has allowed only 26 goals in 25 games so far this season, putting the team on a pace to beat the previous team record for goals allowed in a season (38 in 2008-2009) and per game (1.41 in 2008-2009).
The Girls' hockey team had a great showing at the Schwan's Cup Top Division Tournament during the holiday break. On Monday the Mustangs beat Rochester Mayo, 3-0; on Tuesday the Mustangs beat Redwing 3-0 and on Wednesday beat Benilde St. Margarets 3-2 for the championship at Ridder Arena. The Mustangs records stands at 12-2-0.
The Girls' hockey team had a great showing at the Edina Thanksgiving Cake Eater Tournament. On Friday the Mustangs beat Edina, ranked #4 in 2A, 1-0 and on Saturday the Mustangs beat Benilde-St. Margaret's ranked #17 in 2A, 2-1.
