Eden Prairie at Hopkins
1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17

Eden Prairie continues to be one of the most dominant teams in the state, but Hopkins has proven it can hold its own in the tough Lake Conference and could use its home-ice advantage to hand the Eagles their first loss.

The No. 14-2A Royals (11-7-1) are 2-1-1 in league play but need to improve on defense to knock off No. 1-2A Eden Prairie (16-0-3, 3-0-1). Hopkins allows 2.5 goals per game, and the Eagles have three lines that can take advantage.

Naomi Rogge and Angie Heppelmann each have 11 goals to lead Eden Prairie, but the Eagles have won five in a row by getting goals from several others including Rachel Werdin, who had two goals in a 4-1 victory over Benilde-St. Margaret's on Dec. 29, and Kelly Wolfe, who scored two goals in a 5-1 victory over Chaska on Dec. 30.

Corbin Boyd and Kylie Hanley have provided the scoring punch for Hopkins since late December.  Boyd has three, two-goal efforts in the Royals' last six games as Hopkins has gone 3-3. She also has six assists, giving her a team-high 30 through 19 games. Hanley has five goals and five assists in the same span, helping the freshman forward move in second place on the team in goals (12) and points (32).
