Buffalo also reached its first state tournament last year, losing to Edina 3-1 in the Class 2A quarterfinals and falling to Eastview 3-2 in the consolation semifinals to finish with a 21-9 overall record.

The No. 13-2A Bison seek a return trip this year behind all-state honorable mention players Allison Roethke and Abby Halluksa.

Halluska, a Bemidji State recruit, scored 29 goals and had 22 assists last year. A Quinnipiac recruit, Roethke led the defense while tallying nine goals and 24 assists.

Buffalo graduated six players, including goaltender Kendra Carlson, who had a 15-9 record with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.

Lydia Passolt headlines the returners for No. 14-2A Chaska/Chanhassen. The junior had 36 goals and 24 assists in 26 games last season for the Storm Hawks, who went 18-9 and fell to Edina 3-2 in the Class 2A, Section 6 playoffs.

Passolt started this season with four goals in a 7-6 overtime win over Holy Family/Waconia on Nov. 5.

Minnesota State commit Sofia Poinar is back after recording 21 goals and 25 assists and will help guide Chaska/Chanhassen through Section 2, which includes Minnetonka this season. Mollie Wise (14G, 27A) and Maddy Fiedler (11G, 8A) will give the Storm Hawks added scoring punch.

Chaska/Chanhassen won last year’s meeting 5-2.
