Lakeville South at Eden Prairie
7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12

Eden Prairie spent most of last season as Class 2A's top-ranked team while compiling a 19-0-3 record. But the Eagles saw their time atop the rankings - and their season - come to an end with a 4-3 overtime loss to Edina in the Section 2 championship. Star Tribune's Metro Player of the Year and Ms. Hockey winner Taylor Williamson scored the game-winner.

Eden Prairie graduated all-state players in forward Angie Heppelmann (15G, 18A) and defenders Lauren Boyle (11G, 17A) and Charley Dahlquist (11G, 24A), but the team returns sophomore goalie Alexa Dobchuk, who saw the majority of minutes last season while putting together a 15-3-3 record with a 1.52 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.

Junior Naomi Rogge is the top returning scorer for the No. 6-2A Eagles after tallying 12 goals and 13 assists. Senior defender and team co-captain Carly Molenaar leads the defense while Penn State commit and co-captain Kate Rydland registered 10 goals and 14-assists last season.

Lakeville South returned to the Class 2A state tournament last year for the first time since 2011 and finished fourth following a 3-1 loss to Edina in the third-place game. The No. 8-2A Cougars had their championship aspirations dashed with a 5-1 loss to Minnetonka in the state semifinals and finished with a 24-6-1 record.

Lakeville South scored nearly five goals per game in the regular season last year, led by the now-graduated Morgan Morse, Chloe Batta, Haley Ravndalen along with Janna Haeg and Emily Fischler.

Haeg returns for her senior season after registering 23 goals and 35 assists while Fischler, a sophomore, is the only other returner to post a double-digit goal total, finishing with 13 to go with 15 assists.

Chloe Crosby is back in goal after going 20-6-1 with three shutouts and recording a 1.89 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.
