Elk River at Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids

Elk River pushed its season-opening unbeaten streak to eight games with a 7-1 win over Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper on Nov. 28 and has continued to show why it’s a top-10 team this season.

Breanna Simon (9-10-19), who had four goals against the Wings, and Ohio State commit Shae-Elle McLean (6-11-17) have given the No. 7-2A Elks a dynamic scoring punch. Kelsey King (5-4-9) and Andrea Westgaard (5-3-8) have also shown a scoring touch.

Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids is off to an equally impressive start with a 6-1 record. Its only loss was to Anoka in a 5-4 overtime game on Nov. 21, and the team rebounded with a 5-2 win over No. 16-2A Centennial on Nov. 24.

Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids then added two victories in St. Cloud. Taylor Turnquist had two goals in a 3-1 win over the Icebreakers on Nov. 27 and added a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win over Sartell/Sauk Rapids a day later.

Turnquist (12-8-20) and Lily Hackett (5-9-14) lead the team in scoring while Hannah Schultz (4-6-10) doubled her goal total with two against the Stormin Sabres.
