Proctor/Hermantown at Mound Westonka
7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18

Proctor/Hermanton ended a 0-3-1 stretch Dec. 8 with a 10-1 win over Eveleth-Gilbert, and followed the victory with a 3-1 win over International Falls two days later.

During the skid, the No. 6-1A Mirage recorded a 1-0 loss at No. 1-1A Blake playing without their leading scorer at the time, Sophie McGovern. McGovern has since returned and had a goal and an assist in the win over the Bronchos.

With McGovern and Callie Hoff (13-12-25), Proctor/Hermantown (7-4) has a dangerous 1-2 punch.

The Mirage also have a solid goaltender in Amy Lemenager, who is an amateur boxer (with a 6-0 career record as of early May) when she’s not stopping pucks. Lemenager made 24 saves in the loss to Blake and has a 1.75 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.

Mound Westonka (5-3-1, 1-0) finds itself this season in an tough Class 1A, Section 2, where it has to contend with No. 9 New Prague, defending champion and No. 15-ranked Hutchinson, No. 11 Orono and defending Section 3 champion and No. 13-ranked New Ulm. A win for the No. 12-ranked White Hawks might help with section seeding.

Junior forwards Liz Schepers (8-9-17) and Ellie Burris (7-5-12) lead Mound Westonka, which has just one senior on the roster. Schepers has at least a point in every game this season, including four-point performance (three goals and one assist) in a 5-0 win over Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato and a three-assist game in a 4-3 loss to Princeton on Dec. 8. Burris, meanwhile, had five goals and two assists in her last three games.
