East Grand Forks vs. Thief River Falls
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12

East Grand Forks visits Thief River Falls in the second of their two Greater Minnesota Conference games this season, and the victor will hold an advantage in both the league standings and in seeding for the Class 1A, Section 8 playoffs.

The Green Wave (7-4-1, 3-3-1) could spoil the Prowlers' march to the conference title and avenge a 6-2 loss from Dec. 8 with a win on Thursday. To do so, East Grand Forks must start strong, which has been the team's calling card this season with 23 of its 51 goals coming in the first period.

Goaltender Mckenzie Whalen will be a key factor for the No. 14-1A Green Wave, with the junior's .932 save percentage and three shutouts tying for the best in the league. She could finding improving on either difficult against a high-scoring Prowlers offense.

Thief River Falls (12-5, 6-1) is also in need of a victory after coming off back-to-back losses to No. 5-1A Proctor/Hermantown and No. 8-1A Centennial.

Seniors Callie Fagerstrom (15-18-33) and Kora Torkelson (17-16-33) pace the No. 6-1A Prowlers in scoring and are tied for second in total points (33) in the conference.
