Delano/Rockford vs. Orono

7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5

For the past few years, these two schools have faced off as section counterparts but Orono has since moved out of the section. Regardless, both teams are hungry to get to the state tournament.

Delano/Rockford (9-7, 3-1) came up a game short of the state tourney a season ago after losing to Mound Westonka, but found vengeance against the White Hawks Dec. 21 via a 3-2 win.

Junior forward Anna Keranen leads Delano/Rockford with 12 goals and 12 assists this season, including two goals against Mound Westonka.

The Spartans (6-10, 2-2) have struggled so far this season and will look to fill the void of Minnesota-Duluth commit Lizi Norton (15-13-28), who is representing Team USA at the 2018 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship.

Sophomore forward Claire Suchy is one player who can step up. She has four goals this season and scored Orono's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to North Wright County on Friday.
