Farmington vs.

Lakeville South

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25

With Eagan holding a solid lead in the South Suburban Conference standings, league rivals Farmington and Lakeville South may have turned their attention toward the postseason -- and with good reason.

The Tigers and Cougars are the only Class 2A, Section 1 teams ranked in the top 20, and they meet Thursday to likely settle which secures the top seed for the playoffs.

Farmington (14-6, 8-4) fell to conference foe Apple Valley 4-2 on Saturday, but should enter the game against Lakeville South with plenty of confidence after recording a 5-2 victory in the teams' first meeting on Dec. 9.

Tigers senior forward Eleanor Moser posted a hat trick in the victory, and the Bemidji State commit leads the offense (23 goals, 8 assists, 31 points) for the Tigers.

Lakeville South also lost its last game — a 3-2 overtime decision against Shakopee.

Sophomore forward Lindsay Maloney has helped facilitate the offense for the Cougars (12-8, 8-5) with a team-high 14 assists this season, including one in the loss to the Tigers.
