Mound Westonka will make the two-hour trip north on I-94 to Alexandria for a Class 1A showdown on Saturday.
Mound Westonka is off to a dominant start this season, going undefeated by averaging 4.50 goals per game while allowing less than one per game.
Senior Lauren Burris has 11 goals and 20 points in 10 games for the No. 4-1A White Hawks (10-0, 2-0).
Alexandria should be motivated to play a good game coming off a week of losses at Fergus Falls (1-0, Dec. 4) and at East Grand Forks (2-0, Dec. 6). Sophomore Marki Oberg leads the No. 9-1A Cardinals (3-5, 1-3) with five points in eight games.
Last season, Alexandria advanced to the Class 1A semifinals before losing to Warroad 7-1. A victory over Mound Westonka could spark the Cardinals as they vie for a return trip to state.
