Blake vs. Breck

7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4

Two state tournament contenders will clash when Blake and Breck meet in Golden Valley on Friday.

Blake (14-1, 1-0) enters as one of the top-ranked teams in Class 2A and a likely title contender fresh off a thrilling 4-3 Schwan's Cup Gold Division win over Andover on Dec. 28. But to get a chance at the state tourney, they will have to get through Section 6, which includes elite competition in No. 1-2A Edina and No. 3-2A Wayzata.

Blake's offense is one of the best in the state this season, averaging nearly six goals per game. Lily Delianedis leads the No. 2-1A Bears' onslaught, scoring 19 goals in 15 games this season.

Breck (11-4, 1-0) is on a quest to defend its Class 1A state championship, which concluded with a 3-2 overtime victory against Warroad at the Xcel Energy Center last season. The No. 2-1A Mustangs have relied on their offense, which averages more than 4.5 goals per game, this season to win games. Olivia Mobley, with 17 goals, and Sadie Lindsay's 15 goals have helped pace the attack.
