Cambridge-Isanti/Mora/Pine City

vs. North Wright County

7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8

The two top teams in the Mississippi 8 Conference standings meet for the final time this season on Tuesday, and you can bet North Wright County will be aiming to knock off Cambridge-Isanti/Mora/Pine City.

Cambridge-Isanti/Mora/Pine City already has a lead in the race for the conference crown thanks to a 4-2 win over North Wright County in Isanti on Nov. 20, and the Bluejackets (11-4, 6-0) can widen the distance with another win. To do so, they can turn to their productive offense that is paced by Vermont commit Madelyn Skelton. The junior has 35 points in 15 games this season, including five-point performances against Duluth and Northern Lakes.

Offense will likely be a factor if North Wright County (14-4, 5-1) wants to claim a piece of first place in the Mississippi 8 with a win on Tuesday.

The River Hawks average nearly five goals per game this season and has combined for 15 goals over a four-game winning streak heading into the week.

Three skaters — Mackenzie Bourgerie, Chloe Finnerty and Sydney Lemke — have more than 40 points each in 18 games this season.
