Hill-Murray vs.

Maple Grove

7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24

Hill-Murray is peaking at the right time and has catapulted to being a favorite to win the Class 2A, Section 4 playoffs.

Entering this week, the No. 9-2A Pioneers (15-4-1, 5-0-1) have won or tied 12 straight games since a 6-4 defeat to Wayzata on Dec. 8.

Hill-Murray averages more than five goals per game, thanks in part to 20-goal scorers Katie Kaufman and Nina Steigauf, who have helped drive the offense.

Maple Grove (12-6-1, 9-3-1) features a stout defense that has challenged opponents all season.

The Crimson have limited opponents to less than two goals per game this season, with goaltender Lucy Morgan (1.52 goals-against average) anchoring the group.
