In a repeat of a Class 1A, Section 1 quarterfinal from last year, Rochester Lourdes and Faribault face off on Tuesday.
After dispatching Faribault 6-0 a season ago, the Eagles fell to Red Wing in the second round of the section tournament. Rochester Lourdes (11-7-1) returned this year with hopes of making the trip to St. Paul for the state tournament. Emma Schmitz and Clara Billings have emerged as critical players for the Eagles offense, scoring more than 20 goals each.
Faribault is a section contender thanks to a potent offense, which averages more than five goals per game and has outscored opponents 112-46. Olivia Williamson (34-19-53) is one of several scorers peppering opposing goalies and helping ensure the Falcons (16-5-0, 14-3-0) have never been shut out this season.
