Mound Westonka vs. Delano/Rockford

*7 p.m. , Saturday, Feb. 2

*Rescheduled from Tuesday, Jan. 29

Mound Westonka and Delano/Rockford face off Tuesday in a contest featuring the favorites for the Class 1A, Section 2 title.

Mound Westonka fell to Delano 4-1 in the section semifinals last year, but this season’s White Hawks squad is sporting a different coat of feathers.

Mound Westonka (19-0-4, 9-0-3) has already flown past last year's win total of nine, and it is one of just two teams in Class 1A (Warroad) that has yet to lose a game.

Goaltender Taylor Smith has played a big role in No. 3-1A Mound Westonka's success, allowing just 1.11 goals against in 23 games.

Delano (13-9-1, 7-4-1) is gearing up for the postseason after falling one win short of a section championship last February. New Ulm clinched the trip to the Xcel Energy Center with a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in the section finale.

Delano will likely rely on its top two goal-scorers not only in its quest to get back to the section championship, but also Tuesday against Mound Westonka. Anna Keranen and Emily Olson have each scored at least 20 goals this season.
