Maple Grove vs. Wayzata

7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13

Unlike most of the state’s top teams that list a half-dozen or more Division I commits, No. 6-2A Maple Grove has just one in junior forward Tristana Tatur. The Quinnipiac commit is the leading scorer (15 points) on a Crimson (7-0-1, 5-0-0) team that joins Andover as the last of the state’s unbeatens.

That unbeaten status will be in jeopardy against the No. 7-2A Trojans, who play in one of the state’s toughest conferences (the Lake) and most stacked sections (Class 2A, Section 6). Wayzata’s (7-3-0, 0-0-0) three losses — against traditional powers No. 4-2A Blake (3-2 on Nov. 15), Roseau (6-5 on Nov. 29) and No. 9-2A Hill-Murray (4-1 on Dec. 7) — have been close matchups, with only Hill-Murray winning by more than a goal.

Division I commits Gretchen Branton and Sloane Matthews, who are both Clarkson recruits, and Sophie Urban, committed to Quinnipiac, all have scored at least 10 goals for Wayzata, combining for 33 of the team’s 42 tallies.
