Burnsville vs. Apple Valley

2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4

Let’s try that again.

That’s the rallying cry out of Apple Valley, where the Eagles are stinging from Friday’s 3-1 holiday tournament semifinal loss to South Suburban Conference rival Burnsville. It was just the third setback of the season for Apple Valley (11-3-0, 7-2-0) and just the fourth time this season the Eagles allowed more than two goals in a game.

Senior goaltender Keni Allen has been instrumental in Apple Valley’s resurgence (the Eagles won state championships in 1995 and 1998). She’s been in net for every minute this season and has a goals against average of 1.57 and save percentage of .939

Burnsville (10-3-1, 5-3-1) has been on a bit of tear, going unbeaten in eight of its last nine games and allowing one goal or less in each of its last six victories. Sophomore Sami Bowlby is the Blaze’s goal-scoring leader with 13 tallies, and junior goaltender Maria Widen is 6-1-0 with a 1.41 goals against average and .929 save percentage.
