Cloquet-Esko-Carlton vs. Grand Rapids/Greenway

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton’s meteoric rise in the Class 1A rankings coincides with a win streak that reached 17 games with last Thursday’s 7-1 triumph over Eveleth-Gilbert.

The No. 3-1A Lumberjacks (18-2-0, 3-2-0) have allowed more than two goals just twice during their win streak. They’ve split time equally between goaltenders senior Lauren Maslowski and freshman Araya Kiminski, each of whom have 9-1-0 records.

Claire Vekich, a junior committed to Bemidji State, has racked up 18 goals and 21 assists, impressive totals considering the Lightning (9-9-2) play a schedule loaded with high-powered metro programs.
