South St. Paul vs.

Mound Westonka

3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20

Mound Westonka, which enters the week as one of the state’s six remaining unbeaten teams, has made just two state tournament appearances. South St. Paul, with 15 state tournament appearances, has three losses this season. It’s hard to argue that history is more important than the here and now, but South St. Paul (6-3-0) seems to always present an impeccable challenge for any team with championship aspirations.

Senior defender Makenna Deering, a Bemidji State commit, leads No. 7-1A South St. Paul with six goals and 12 points. Sophomore goaltender Delaney Norman has registered four-straight shutout victories.

Mound Westonka (7-0-0) has scored at least four goals in every game this winter, and senior Grace Peterson leads the No. 4-1A White Hawks with 13 goals. Her 22 points ranks among the most in the state. Sophomore Sydney Leonard has 10 goals among her 17 points.
