No. 1-A Thief River Falls at No. 7-A Warroad
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14
At The Gardens Arena, Warroad

We could be seeing a changing of the guard in the northwest corner of the state, as Thief River Falls is the state’s lone remaining unbeaten team at 18-0-0 and has already knocked off five-time Section 8A champion Warroad, 4-2 on Dec. 10. Emily Bergland (24-18-42) scored the game-winner midway through the third. She’s the team’s leading scorer and the daughter of boys’ coach Tim Bergland, a former NHLer. Warroad’s record may not be strong (7-7-1), but the Warriors have played a tough schedule loaded with Twin Cities’ powerhouses such as Minnetonka, Edina and Irondale.
