Is it tough to feel sorry for the eighth-ranked team in the state? Probably not, but if rankings hold, Eden Prairie won’t be the favorite in any conference game this season, including Saturday’s home game against top-ranked Hopkins. But should it be that way? Perhaps not. The Eagles have already upset Edina, Wayzata and Minnetonka in conference play and only need to knock off Hopkins to earn at least a season split. It will likely come down to a low-scoring game, as eighth-grade goaltender Alexa Dobchuk (6-2-0, 1.30, .928) has been terrific since getting full-time duty over the holidays.
