Top games: Trending Hill-Murray faces tough early season test in Breck

Nov. 19: The Pioneers boast a mix of veteran and rookie scoring while the Mustangs are loaded with Division I college recruits.

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.






Other games to keep an eye on

Eden Prairie vs. Blake, 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23. Senior Lily Delianedis of Blake (3-1-0, 1-0-0) leads the state in scoring with 14 points (six goals, eight assists) and is one of six Bears players committed to Division I colleges. Eden Prairie (2-0-1, 0-0-0) is fueled by the tandem of senior Sydney Langseth, a Minnesota State-Mankato signee, and junior Grace Kuipers, a Princeton commit; each of whom have four goals and four assists.

Hutchinson vs. Fergus Falls, 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23. Fergus Falls (2-1-0, 0-0-0) reached the small-school state tournament for the first time in a decade last season and returns standout forward Ellie Anderson, a junior, and senior Jade Zierden. Maddy Seifert has scored five goals for Hutchinson (2-0-0, 0-0-0), which figures to contend for the Class 1A, Section 2 title.

Faribault vs. Northfield, 7:15 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21. After scoring 40 goals and adding 21 assists last season, Faribault’s Olivia Williamson, a Brown University commit, has resumed her torrid pace with five goals and five assists in four games for the Falcons (4-0-0, 2-0-0). Northfield (2-0-0, 0-0-0), meanwhile, is coming off a 6-3 win over Mound Westonka on Saturday.
